#2 written by Jer 4 years agoThe gist is that this poem touches on a lot of things I’ve been learning and/or struggling with lately… to the point where they all kind of bleed together.
In the lines you mention, there’s a bit of the whole ongoing “gender” non-issue that’s become so blown out of proportion (and biblical theology for that matter), with the TNIV just being one small example of a touchpoint in that debate.
“Chair/man” is a bit of a cynical reference to a discussion I had yesterday (think “chairperson” and you’ll see how it leads into the gender lines).
Oh, and I think TNIV-positive is pretty clever, for what it’s worth. Think about what HIV does to a physical body – destroying the immune system, and translate that to the realm of theology and truth – gender neutrality is in many ways something that’s been birthed of people losing their “false doctrine immunity” via abandoning the scripture for a variety of reasons.
I’d rather not touch on the “ine” rhymes you mentioned at this point. You’ll find that’s usually the case when I’ve got someone or someones in mind and I get a little heated.
